Where It Started

A café moment, brought home.

Desayuno Cafe began overseas, in a European café where mornings had no rush — just conversation, good coffee and a reason to stay a little longer. Founders Jaime Zarraga, Kirk Rens and Valeria "Val" Hernandez carried that feeling back to North Phoenix and built a space around it.

What opened as the neighborhood's newest breakfast spot on Thunderbird Rd quickly became a daily ritual for regulars: griddled burritos, hand-poured lattes, and a dining room painted in aubergine, marigold and floral pink that makes you want to sit down and stay awhile.

Made From Scratch

Every plate, poured and griddled to order.

Nothing here comes pre-made. Carne asada hits the flat-top fresh, the flan for our Flan Latte is baked in house, and the horchata is stirred to order behind the counter every morning. It's a small team that treats every burrito and every espresso shot like the only order of the day.
